Sun products are designed to maximize energy-efficiency. The frame and sash materials are designed to combat the harsh effects of the weather so that Sun windows and doors will provide protection and energy-efficiency year after year. The insulated glass systems use the latest advances in energy performance technology. This includes new generation Low-E glass, Argon gas filled air spaces, and Duralite™, the most advanced warm-edge insulated glass spacer system available.
SunClad Casements
The USA Casement family is designed and built to provide superior energy saving performance. Full perimeter weather-stripping and secure sash closure provide an air-tight seal. Select one of our climate-targeted, Low-E insulated glass configurations to take advantage of Sun's best energy performance combination for your region. All Sun IG units use the Duralite™ warm-edge spacer system, a non-metallic spacer that provides the lowest thermal conductivity and best gas retention of any IG spacer system.
Sun Double Hung Windows
The SunClad USA Easy-Tilt is Sun's performance grade double hung window. It features a sash-over-sash design where both sashes open for ventilation and tilt-in for easy cleaning of the exterior glass surfaces from within the building. An innovative combination of our positive contact floating jamb liners with finger release tilt-sash operation provides excellent weather seal performance along with easy tilting sashes. Sash operation is achieved with sash locks and finger release hardware recess mounted on the bullnose profiled sash lock rail. The window interior features clear ponderosa pine that is suitable for a natural (clear) finish, staining or painting. The sash profile is kept narrow to maximize the daylight opening.

The SunClad™ USA Sash Set Fixed Lite offers refined looks and function in a high-performance window. The plain profile of the sash with its mitered corners and deeper glazing stop provide a simple but classic appeal. The window interior features clear ponderosa pine that is suitable for a natural (clear) finish, staining or painting. It has a clean, narrow frame profile with a sash-set system that complements both the SunClad™ Casement and Double Hung. Use the Sash Set Fixed Lite by itself or in combination with either the SunClad™ Casement or SunClad™ Double Hung window.

1. Does your window have an Extruded Aluminum Exterior with an integral nailing fin?
SunClad is the name they give their heavy-gauge extruded aluminum exterior on their clad-wood products. Aluminum is highly resistant to the effects of weather. It does not rust like other metal. It does not rot or decay, warp or distort like wood. It does not break down chemically over time like vinyl or fiberglass. Their heavy gauge extruded aluminum will not easily dent like Roll Form aluminum wrapped over a wood sash. It provides exceptional strength and long life for the product and it is the perfect surface for our High Durability Powder Coat Finish. Additionally, new construction SunClad products have an integral nailing fin that provides a strong, rigid fastening surface for installing the windows. It is also an excellent surface for integrating the product into a vapor barrier system.
2. Does your window have a built in Fail-Safe Water Management System?
All SunClad products are designed with a Fail-Safe Water Management System with two levels of protection. The first level of protection is the perimeter glazing seal between the sash and glass. However, because years of exposure to the elements can cause this seal to develop small gaps, they also build in a back up venting system that provides an effective path for water and moist air to exit the glazing channel and sash structure. This protects the insulated glass against seal failure and the interior wood components from deterioration.
3. Does your window have a hard, durable, commercial grade powder coat exterior finish with unlimited color choices?
Sun uses high durability powder coating as the exterior finish of our SunClad products. It is tougher than conventional painted finishes. The powder is electrostatically applied to aluminum extrusions that have been washed and prepared in a multi-stage pre-treatment process. The applied powder is baked on to the extrusion which is ready for production shortly after leaving the oven. Their standard finish meets AAMA 2604 requirements and allows us to provide a 20 year warranty against peeling, flaking, blistering, cracking, checking and loss of adhesion and a 10 year warranty against chalking and color change.

5. Does your window company spend millions of dollars a year promoting their name instead of making better products?

All Sun insulated glass units use the Duralite™ glass spacer system. Duralite is the only all non-metallic spacer system available. It provides superior thermal performance and its flexible properties insure a superior glass seal and excellent argon gas retention, the best in the industry. (Argon is the inert gas used to fill the sealed air space of high-performance insulated glass units to improve their thermal performance.) Duralite™ is one of the reasons they are able to provide a full 20 year warranty on our insulated glass.
